Our Micrograph is featured in TMS Foundation's COMIC-tanium™: The Super Materials of the Superheroes
Our micrograph is featured in the TMS Foundation's COMIC-tanium™: The Super Materials of the Superheroes. The Batman is looking at something peculiar in his hand, appearing somewhat mystified. This is in fact our SEM image of dendritic spinels precipitated from a molten slag derived from a coal-petcoke mixture.
"COMIC-tanium™ is a traveling exhibit that will tour the US, bringing real-life minerals, metals, and materials science and engineering to the public in a fun and interesting way. The exhibit is a major outreach initiative of the TMS Foundation and the Toonseum of Pittsburgh. This museum-quality retrospective was developed as a fun, interactive educational experience—of interest to anyone who has ever read a comic book, watched a superhero movie, or wondered at the possibilities of materials technology. The mission of TMS Foundation is to support the development of professionals in the minerals, metals, and materials community within the context of our global society.
